Sam has achieved racing success in more than HPV machines; he's been a top cycling competitor on both road and track for over many years.

He rode for Pacific Sport, an athlete development organization, under Canadian National Coach, Houshang Amiri.

Sam has ridden the Tour Of Hokkaido in Japan, Six-Day track events in Belgium, and won the recumbent team event in the Race Across America (RAAM).

On the road, Sam favours criteriums--short circuit-courses where speed trumps endurance. In the Bastion Square Grand Prix Criterium, he and recently retired world-champion, Roland Green lapped the field in 2002, when Roland, knowing he'd likely lose to Sam in a sprint, took- off in the last lap. Sam finished a proud second behind the world champion.

Sam has raced all over North America. He continues to keep the racers at the Greater Victoria Velodrome on their toes: occasionally, Sam will show up at the track on one of his strange, but eerily effective bikes, and blow the shorts off the field.

In 2008, Sam will continue to train and race on a variety of bikes and courses, all with the focus of going faster than anyone else has gone before.

2003: Sam rides the 4000 metre individual pursuit in the Provincial Track Championships in Victoria, BC. Though it is not his best discipline, he still earns a bronze medal.

Sam somewhere in the mountains during the Race Across America. Even though he was the teams sprinter, he somehow ended up doing all the climbing.

Sam turns it up on the Victoria Velodrome.

Not many cyclists get speeding tickets, especially on the highway.
