Sam Whittingham has been called the "fastest man on Earth."
Bicycles have always been his passion. Sam is undefeated in the realm of human-powered cycling speed. For over 13 years he has gone faster under his own power, without the aid of gravity, wind or drafting, than anyone in history. As well as numerous world championship titles, Sam is also the current record holder for both top speed, at 81mph, and endurance: 52 miles covered in 1 hour.
Sam is no stranger to all things pedal-powered, having competed as a Canadian national-team member on the road and track for several years. Various media have featured Sam and his cycling pursuits, including award-winning documentaries, many magazine articles, television programs, news and talk shows, and nationally syndicated radio programs.
Formally trained as a Theatre Set Designer, Sam has taken his design skills, in combination with his cycling experience, and created a successful custom bicycle building business, Naked Bikes. He, along with his wife—the previous women’s world speed record holder—Andrea Blaseckie, and their two children, currently live on Quadra Island, British Columbia, Canada.
